A Wearable Electrostatic Sensor for Human Activity Monitoring

Human activity monitoring based on wearable sensors is important in a wide range of biomedical and healthcare applications. Existing using single unit cannot capture the movements all body segments. This paper presents novel electrostatic sensor that can detect limb torso during routine daily activities from any location body. Because electric potential human varies movements, measures difference between electrode for motion sensing. A charge amplifier converts induced into voltage signal, which further amplified, filtered, digitalized transmitted via ZigBee. Experimental assessment was carried out by collecting signals three locations simultaneously while subject performing different movements. The capability to validated. characteristics are quantified correlating signal simple cyclic It found depends sensor’s mounting body, type various factors.
